Hi imno68angel,
Here’s a link to the manual for the Pentax Optio 430:
http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/manual/Optio430_IB.pdf
You have two options with the Option 430. You could try the "Incandescent" or "Tungsten" preset white balance, which will probably make those orange indoor shots look much better, or you could do a manual white balance, which is more work but should result in excellent color.
To do manual white balance, you should carry around a standard letter-sized sheet of white paper, folded up.
First, make sure the camera is ready to take a picture, not displaying a picture previously taken.
Next, press the Menu button on the back.
If the menu isn’t already on the "Rec. Mode" tab, use the 4-way controller on the back to get to the "Rec. Mode" tab.
On the Rec. Mode tab, use the 4-way controller to get down to the White Balance menu item.
Press the right-arrow on the 4-way controller, or press the OK button (I’m not sure which will get you there; sorry) to get to White Balance settings.
From here you can either choose the Incandescent/Tungsten preset, or you an choose Manual.
To choose the Incandescent/Tungsten preset:
Use the 4-way controlloer to select the round light bulb. Press the OK button twice. Take the picture.
To choose Manual:
Use the 4-way controller to select "Manual".
Put a blank sheet of white paper, or something else big and white, in the general area where you want to shoot. Point the camera at the sheet of white paper, close enough that the lens will only see the white paper.
Press the shutter release button. This does not take a picture; instead it sets the white balance for that exact shot. The screen should say "Complete" and return to the main menu.
Press the OK button.
Take the picture.
To return to Automatic white balance, you can reverse your steps through the menu, or simply turn the camera off and back on.
To save your White Balance settings even after the camera is turned off:
Make sure your in picture taking mode, not display mode, and press the Menu button.
Use the right-arrow on the 4-way controller to get to the Memory tab.
Use the 4-way controller to move down to White Balance.
On the 4-way controller, press the right or left arrow to turn on the check mark for White Balance.
Press the OK button.
Good luck and have fun!
Greg
have a look in your camera’s instr. manual, normally it’s in the menu or function button>white balance then you can either select incandescent to match the light conditions or set manual/custom white balance by taking a picture of a white card then recomposing the shot.
hope it helps
